HIV-Q Real-Time PCR Kit

Product Overview

Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a retrovirus that attacks the body's immune system, specifically CD4+ T lymphocytes, leading to progressive immune suppression and increased susceptibility to opportunistic infections and certain cancers. Monitoring HIV viral load is a critical component of patient management, helping assess disease progression, treatment response, and antiretroviral therapy efficacy.

The HIV-Q Real-Time PCR Kit from Genes2Me is a highly sensitive and specific molecular assay designed for the detection and quantification of HIV-1 RNA in human plasma samples. The assay delivers accurate viral load measurements, enabling researchers and laboratories to monitor viral replication dynamics with confidence and precision.

HIV-Q RT-PCR Kit

How the Assay Works

The HIV-Q assay utilizes quantitative Reverse Transcription Real-Time PCR (RT-qPCR) technology to amplify and quantify conserved regions of the HIV-1 genome. HIV-specific amplification is detected through the HEX fluorescence channel, while an Internal Control detected in the Cy5 channel monitors extraction efficiency, amplification performance, and potential PCR inhibition.

The kit includes four Quantification Standards (QS1–QS4) with defined copy numbers, allowing generation of a standard curve for precise viral load calculation. The assay is compatible with both open and closed real-time PCR platforms and provides reliable quantitative results across a broad dynamic range.

Why Molecular Viral Load Testing Matters

Accurate HIV viral load monitoring is essential for evaluating treatment effectiveness and identifying therapeutic failure before clinical symptoms appear. Molecular testing directly quantifies circulating HIV RNA, providing a sensitive measure of active viral replication. Regular viral load assessment supports:

  • Monitoring antiretroviral therapy response
  • Early detection of virological failure
  • Assessment of treatment adherence
  • Longitudinal disease management
  • Clinical research and epidemiological studies
