Overview


The SpiNXT Soil DNA Extraction Kit employs a silica membrane based spin column purification workflow combined with optimized lysis and inhibitor removal chemistry. Soil samples are processed to release microbial and environmental DNA, while specialized buffers effectively reduce co-purified inhibitors such as humic acids and other organic contaminants commonly found in soil. Under appropriate binding conditions, DNA selectively binds to the silica membrane, whereas proteins, inhibitors, and particulate debris are removed through sequential wash steps. The purified DNA is subsequently eluted in a low-salt buffer, yielding DNA of suitable purity and integrity for sensitive downstream molecular applications. The protocol avoids the use of hazardous organic solvents and is optimized for minimal handling and processing time.
