The SpiNXT FFPE Nucleic Acid Extraction Kit is designed for the isolation of genomic DNA and total RNA from formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissue samples. Due to formalin fixation and tissue processing, nucleic acids recovered from FFPE samples are typically fragmented, but this kit is optimized to recover material suitable for downstream molecular biology workflows. The kit supports both research and clinical laboratory applications, enabling the study of archived tissues for genomic, transcriptomic, and biomarker analyses.

Overview


The SpiNXT FFPE Nucleic Acid Extraction Kit utilizes silica membrane spin column technology to efficiently purify nucleic acids from FFPE tissue sections. Tissue sections are first deparaffinized and lysed using optimized buffers, which enable release of DNA and RNA while inactivating nucleases and denaturing proteins. Under high-salt conditions, nucleic acids selectively bind to the silica membrane, allowing separation from proteins, paraffin residues, and other contaminants. Sequential wash steps remove impurities, and DNA and RNA are eluted in a low-salt buffer or nuclease-free water. The workflow eliminates the need for hazardous organic solvents such as phenol or chloroform and avoids alcohol precipitation. The extracted DNA and RNA are fragmented yet suitable for amplification-based assays, sequencing, and molecular analyses, making them compatible with a wide range of downstream applications.
