Maternal Serum Screening

Early  Screening,  Effective  Diagnosis

Maternal Serum Screening Tests are the initial stage tests for a pregnant mother. These are screening tests to check for any abnormality that may arise during the pregnancy. If a high risk is reported for any disorder, the pregnant mother can opt for non invasive or invasive procedure to confirm the results.

Cardiovascular Function
Double Marker Test

It is a test that combines maternal blood screening with an ultrasound analysis of the fetus,

to identify risk for specific chromosomal abnormalities. It measures the following two levels in the maternal serum
It detects for specific chromosomal abnormalities like:

• Trisomy - 21 (Down Syndrome)

• Trisomy - 18 (Edward Syndrome)

It is ideally carried between the 11th to 13th week of pregnancy.

Cardiovascular Function
Triple Marker Test

It is an investigation performed during pregnancy in the second trimester

to classify a patient as either high-risk or low-risk for chromosomal abnormalities (and neural tube defects).

• Alpha - Fetoprotein (AFP)

• Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG)

• Unconjugated Estriol (UE3)

It detects for specific chromosomal abnormalities like:

• Trisomy - 21 (Down Syndrome)

• Trisomy - 18 (Edward Syndrome)

• Open Neural Tube Defects

It is ideally carried out between the 15th-20th weeks of pregnancy.

Cardiovascular Function
Quadruple Marker Test

Similar to the triple screen, the quadruple marker test provides information about whether there is an increased risk for certain birth defects in the baby.
